This was the debut single by The Knack in 1979. The riff on the song was written by the band's lead guitarist, Berton Averre long before the song was written. When lead singer Doug Feiger met Sharona Alperin, he fell madly in love with her and the song came to be. Sharona herself appears on the picture sleeve for the single. Sharona is now a real estate agent in Los Angeles. Doug Feiger passed away in 2010.
